OpenVPN on iPhone & iPad

Import your RealVPN OpenVPN file into the official OpenVPN Connect app on iPhone or iPad.

What you need

  • iPhone or iPad
  • An active RealVPN plan

  1. Install OpenVPN Connect

    Get OpenVPN Connect from the App Store.

  2. Get your OpenVPN UDP (or TCP) config

    Sign in at realvpn.io, open the Account menu and choose Manual VPN setup — or go straight to realvpn.io/settings.

    Select OpenVPN UDP (or TCP), choose a location close to you and press Generate config. You’ll get a RealVPN.ovpn file (saved to your Downloads).

    Device: choose New manual device the first time. Setting up the same device again? Pick it from the list to reuse its credentials instead of creating a new one.

  3. Open the file in OpenVPN Connect

    Generate the config in Safari on your iPhone. When the download finishes, open Files → Downloads, tap RealVPN.ovpn, then the Share button and choose OpenVPN.

  4. Add and connect

    OpenVPN Connect shows Import Profile. Tap Add, then Add again, and allow the VPN configuration. Use the toggle to connect.
